The Fake Calculator App that hides photos.

Making the news this week (thanks to an Alabama Prosecutor) is an App – that if you look at your childs iphone/ipod/ipad – looks just like the Calculator App that comes with the device. But it’s not.
It’s a “Photo Vault” app. Meaning – it hides photos behind the App. There are tons of photo vault apps on the market. But this one is deceiving.
When you look at the icon (see image below) it has the name Calculator on it… but it’s actually called Calculator% (notice the percentage sign after the word). That is what gives it away.
Enter the passcode in the App, and you get access to all the Photos that were hidden from anyone to see. Pretty sneaky…

As I have stated night after night:
Nothing replaces parent involvement when it comes to the use of Youtube and our children. Parents need to listen to what their child is watching.
To that end, I found a good piece to put some simple restrictions in place for your child on their handheld device – who access Youtube.
Follow the simple directions for iOS and Android – a good first step. Remember NOT to depend on it 100%

Backup Your Photos

Today, I decided to take every mobile device in my home and do another backup.
The best part is that most hand-helds are “plug-and-leave”. It does not consume your day, and it’s productive.
Once I backed-up all the photos to my computer, I deleted the originals on all of my devices. This freed up a ton of room on each device.
I then copied all the pictures from my computer to an external hard-drive for extra security.
Remember that this should be a monthly activity at the least.
